Who Can Join
Membership in the Rockford Municipal Employees Credit Union is open to the employees of the following organizations:
- City of Rockford
- County of Winnebago
- Rockford Public Library
- Rockford Township
- Board of Election Office
- Cherry Valley Fire Protection District
- Northern Illinois Training Advisory Board
- The Greater Rockford Airport Authority
- Public Safety Building
- CareAVan Inc
- Rock River Training
- Rockford Municipal Employees Credit Union
- Workforce Connection
If you are a member, your family members also qualify to be members. Once you join the credit union, you are a member for life. Even if you change employers, your membership remains open until you close the account.
How to Join
To open an account you need to simply visit one of our locations to fill out a membership application and open your share account with a minimum deposit of $25.00. Once you have established your share account you will be eligible for any product or service you may be interested in.
Documents and Information Needed
- Valid (non-expired) US or state government issued photo identification such as drivers license, state identification card, US passport, foreign passport, US military identification, foreign drivers license and Alien Registration receipt card with photo.
- All members must provide a valid social security or other taxpayer identification number issued by the Social Security Administration.
- A valid mailing address. We can not accept a PO Box under the US Patriot Act.
- Date of birth.
- Family members of individuals who qualify for membership may also join RMECU. In addition to the above requirements, information regarding the qualified individual may be requested.
RMECU reserves the right to deny membership to any applicant based on information received from government watch lists including but not limited to the Office of Foreign Asset Control. Membership may also be denied if the legitimacy of any of the above types of identification is in doubt.
